Two friends from Bungay has raised £4,600 for the Norfolk Community Foundation by cycling the 300-mile London-Paris cycle route.

Olive Thompson, who works as the Foundation’s Finance Manager, celebrated her 60th birthday by teaming up with her co-worker Anna Douglas. After setting off from London and cycling through the English countryside, the two Bungay cyclists caught the Dover-Calais ferry before biking to Arras, Compiegnem and eventually Paris. Each day required more than 10 hours of cycling but, on the way, they were encouraged by crowds of locals and tourists before finally crossing the finish line (conveniently located at the Eiffel Tower!)

The Norfolk Community Foundation works to support a large host of different causes across Norfolk and North Suffolk via working with businesses, individuals, and larger charity trusts, allowing community groups and small charities to apply for funding for a range of projects and needs. The money raised by the pair of Bungay cyclists is to be put towards the Foudation’s new Norfolk Future Fund.
