The former Thai Castle Restaurant in St Mary’s Street in Bungay, has been transformed into a rustc, wood-fired pizza parlour, called the Suffolk Stonehouse
Mark Hougham, the man probably best known for his appearance in the show ‘Fightback Britain’, has done another good deed for the people of Bungay by opening up a new Italian venture, in the premises of what was fast becoming a bit of an eyesore on one of Bungay most popular streets.
Transformational work are complete at 18 St. Marys Street, with the Suffolk Stonehouse restaurant now open, just in time for the popular summer trade in the picturesque market town in North Suffolk.
The rustic pizzeria place will be run in tandem with Mark, and partner Tanya more traditional restaurant at the Castle inn on Earsham Street. Why not come done and try the Suffolk Stonehouse out.
ok….Give me the Low-Down on the Bungay Restaurant Scene
Here’s the run-down of the current eateries in Bungay: Ok, formely ‘Pepe’s’ was an Italian restaurant in Bungay, yet its unsure if he did rustic style pizzas. Recently, Pepe’s took the decision to re-brand the restaurant into an american grill something which Bungay did not have, however, this had left a void for those who yearn for the true Neapolitan taste, well, until recently once Mark Hougham’s latest venture with Suffolk Stonehouse. There is the Thai Bahn on Earsham Street and the Indian/Bangladeshi a little further down St marys street. Bungay unfortunately lost its fine dining restaurant, ‘The Black Dog’ recently, although this is for sale and the team at ‘Love Bungay’ hear that a number of buyers are interested, so watch that space for a new restaurant in bungay. Further afield there is the very popular ‘St Peters Hall Restaurant‘. So in summary; things are looking very good indeed for foodies who frequent Bungay.
If you are more of a light lunch person, perhaps take a look over the cafes in Bungay.
